Our response includes:
- The virus, COVID - 19, belongs to the family of Coronaviruses, was discovered in December 2019 and has now spread throughout the world.
- Fever
- Cough
- Shortness of breath
- If you develop emergency warning signs for COVID-19 get medical attention immediately. Emergency warning signs include*:
Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
New confusion or inability to arouse
Bluish lips or face
*This list is not all inclusive. Please consult your medical provider or 911 for any other symptoms that are severe or concerning.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use hand sanitizer. Look for one that is 60% or higher alcohol-based.
- Keep your kids away from others who are sick or keep them home if they are ill.
- Teach kids to cough and sneeze into a tissue (make sure to throw it away after each use!) or to cough and sneeze into their arm or elbow, not their hands.
- Clean and disinfect your home as usual using regular household cleaning sprays or wipes.
- Avoid touching your face; teach your children to do the same.
- Avoid travel to highly infected areas.

Our response includes:
- We continue to closely monitor the situation and the guidance and recommendations from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the PA Department of Health, the Philadelphia Department of Public Health, and other local hospitals and health systems that we are affiliated with.
- We strongly urge parents to schedule well child visits, depending upon the COVID 19 situation. We will advise you of the current situation when you call.
- We strongly advise any patient with a fever of 100.4 F or higher, chills, a cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, runny nose or congestion, headache, muscle pain, loss of taste or smell, fatigue, vomiting or diarrhea, or other known symptoms or signs of COVID 19, travel to affected areas in the US or overseas, or contact with a known COVID 19 positive patient or a person with known COVID 19 symptoms or signs - to please CALL US FIRST before coming into the office.
- We have implemented several internal policies and protocols, including but not limited to, additional cleaning of surfaces, especially "high-touch areas" and equipment in the office, in response to the situation.
- We strongly encourage parents and children to frequently wash their hands when in the office and to strictly follow the recommendations in the "How to protect your family" section above.
- The safety and health of our patients and their families, our staff and providers, remain our highest priority as always.
